KIN 2015 is a feast of ideas packed into a day!

If you enjoy TED talks then KIN2015 is just right for you. KIN is about sparky conversations, fascinating facts and new ways to think. The theme is food and we’ve all got a point of view. KIN isn’t a family fun day - it’s a fact day - it’s about animal welfare, the environment, the planet, food and our choices. It’s time to dive into new ideas, trigger thoughts and get those grey cells working.

The Vegetarian Society’s KIN 2015 is being held in Manchester on Saturday 11 July 2015. It’s about the food choices we make - the food we eat, the way it’s produced and the impacts on our health, animals and our planet.

A selection of the world’s leading thinkers and experts will be coming together to discuss, debate and to share insights and understanding on some of the key issues faced by all of us. Check out KIN 2015 and step into a feast of ideas.

What’s included in each type of ticket…? (e.g. how many talks you can see in the day / lunch? Etc)

All tickets give you access to the whole of KIN2015 from 9am - 5pm. You can join all the other delegates for the welcome address, keynote speech and final session then design your own day by choosing from our 12 world-class speakers, chef led cookery masterclasses or interactive workshops. Nothing is prescribed at KIN so if you fancy a morning of intellectual stimulation and an afternoon browsing the market stalls then you can do just that. We advise you to book which sessions you want to attend when you book your ticket to avoid disappointment.

Our speakers are split into three distinct themes; health, animal welfare and global / environmental issues. You can hop between themes or stick in the same one all day. Choose the speakers that float your boat or sit out a talk and participate in an interactive workshop. Make Kin work for you.

We’ve structured our talks so that everyone will have chance to sit down for a lovely vegetarian or vegan lunch and not miss out on any of the action. There will be light snacks, tea, coffee and a full bar available throughout the whole day.

What is the Vegetarian Society?

The Vegetarian Society is a charity that influences, inspires and supports people to embrace and maintain a vegetarian lifestyle.

A vegetarian lifestyle is kinder to animals, people and our planet. As the oldest vegetarian organisation in the world, the Vegetarian Society has been working to promote, educate and support vegetarians and the vegetarian movement since 1847. We have been at the heart of a world of change for vegetarians since those early years.

For more information about the Vegetarian Society, please visit:

What is a vegetarian?

A vegetarian is someone who lives on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits with, or without, the use of dairy products and eggs. A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or by-products of slaughter.

Why is the Vegetarian Society putting on KIN 2015?

For many reasons it is crucial to our survival as a species that we change the way we live. Changing the way we eat has a bigger impact than most of us realise.

More and more people around the world are embracing veggie food for many different reasons. We want to share those reasons and bring them to a larger stage.

KIN will, for the first time, bring together some of the most influential thinkers and academics to discuss the issues that are so vital for our future.

There’s a lot to talk about. That is why we’re putting on KIN.

Why is it called KIN?

We all have one thing in common… we’re all in it together. We’re all one family of people trying to do the right thing – and the choices we make about the food we eat can have a huge impact on everyone and everything else. This conference is about getting together and understanding why we need to make a positive difference and how we should do it.
